How many more excuses can we make to have a holiday?
The famous Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see his shadow this morning (See link below for the LIVE prediction). Ergo - early spring!
Does the rest of the country really think so though with the snow-pocalypse that’s covering most of the US? Here’s what CNN thinks.
Meanwhile, here at SU, an e-mail was sent out early this morning informing students and professors alike that:
“The University is operating on normal hours today, Wednesday, Feb. 2.
Students and faculty who commute may encounter conditions that necessitate a personal safety decision in regards to their travel to the University. If this occurs, students and faculty should work with each other to make alternate arrangements. Also, any staff member who needs to adjust his or her work schedule due to an individual situation should discuss the matter with his/her supervisor.”
Good ol’ SU. We scoff at you sever winter storm. Scoff I say. Psht. Snow. Hail. Sleet. You name it. Students here are informed that classes are being held. As normal.
News of “Wooo snow day!” blows up everyone’s Facebook Newsfeed and Twitter home pages as they read of their friends and family’s mini-vacation from their responsibilities.
While here at SU, E.S. Bird Library is full (as full as it can be at noon on a Wednesday) and winter-hardy students trek to class all bundled in puffy jackets, hats, gloves, scarves, snowshoes, and skis. Just kidding about that last part.
Maybe.
